Sangeeta N. Bhatia, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of EECS and health Sciences (HST) at MIT.

Sangeeta N. Bhatia, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of EECS and Health Sciences and Technology (HST). She directs the Laboratory for Multiscale Regenerative Technologies with a focus on the applications of micro- and nanotechnology to tissue repair and regeneration. Dr. Bhatia earned her Sc.B. from Brown University in Biomedical Engineering, her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, her Ph.D. in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School.

After postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, she spent six years on the faculty at University of California at San Diego in Bioengineering and Medicine. In 2003, she co-authored an undergraduate textbook in tissue engineering. She is a frequent advisor to governmental organizations on biosensing, nanobiotechnology, and tissue engineering. She holds 12 issued or pending patents and has worked in industry at Pfizer, Genetics Institute, ICI Pharmaceuticals, and Organogenesis. She and her husband (Jagesh Shah, PhD ‘99) spend any free time running around after their two-year old daughter, Anjali, in Lexington.
